Questionaire Facebook Results

I have uploaded my Questionaire on Facebook to gain more depth on my target audience. Majority of the world are logged onto the largest sociable networking website Facebook. So i decided to use my knowledge and recieve different answers from different cultures from my friends. This will give me a wider range of ideas to add to my Hip Hop magazine.

Questionaire Results

Questions 1-4

5.       What colours do you prefer?

Many participants had chosen the colours red, blue and black. These are the common colours that convey a Hip Hop magazine in today’s society. I will take the colour scheme carefully into consideration as I would want my target audience to be more contented and to attract more people.

6.       What typefaces do you like?

Typeface
The font above (Algerian) became the most common answer in my results. I will be taking this particular font into more consideration with my magazine as it conveys most magazine in today’s society as it is simple, bold and clear to the target audience.

Questions 7-8

9.       What features would you expect in a magazine?

All the features I had provided with the questionnaire were chosen from the audience. This gives me a basic general outline of what to insert in the magazine to appeal more to my target audience. Hip Hop magazines mostly contain features such as News, Interviews/Reviews and mostly Pictures. I will use as many images as possible which will attract the consumers more.

Questions 10-11

12.       Which style of a contents page would you prefer?

From my results, majority of my target audience was the cover (right) as it has more of a Hip Hop colour scheme and a sex appeal to males. This contents page and the second one (left) on my questionnaire was the most popular. The page on the left had attracted many people as the use of colour scheme was effective and different to a Hip Hop magazine. Both pages are typical conventions on a Hip Hop magazine. I will take into consideration of the results I have to make sure my contents page is very clear, unique and effective to appeal to my specific target audience.

Questionaire

Questionaire Plan

To carry out my primary research, I have started to think of a variety of questions to ask in my questionnaire to expand more knowledge of my target audience preferences. I have chosen to use a questionnaire as it is simplistic and effective of getting my audience research.

Here are some of the basic questions I will include:

  • What gender are you?
  • What age group are you in?
  • What is your occupation?
  • How much would you purchase a magazine for?
These are a few questions I will include which will gain more depth in my target audience. I will use the answers and create a successful Hip Hop magazine which would be directly from their specific answers.

The Hypodermic Needle Theory

The Hypodermic Needle Theory/Magic Bullet Theory was the first ever major effect on mass media on the general public. The theory suggests that the mass media can influence a very large audience directly with a ‘bullet’ to gain suitable terms and messages with a required response. For example, it’s telling the public that the mass media is a sender which directs information to the receiver also known as the audience. This is like an act of brainwashing a target audience without them able to question anything.

It started off in the 1020s, where the theory was based on the idea that media caused a direct impact on a viewer or audience. This tells us that an audience’s mind can be changed through what the media portray or through a message with no meaning. This can be related back to the use of a magic bullet as it can direct shooting to a viewers mind. Theorist believed that the media could be the reason for the public opinions and viewpoints being influenced on. One theorist who was popular was called Harold Lasswell where he said that the mass media could directly manipulate and affect a public opinion.

Overall, this information tells us that our own personal behaviours can vastly be influenced by the media. In my opinion, the theory can be true. In today’s society, I have witnessed people watch or read about the news and their viewpoint will change on how a person is portrayed by the media even if they were innocent in any given situation.

To sum-up the theory states that our behaviour is very strongly influenced by the mass media. So much, that if we see something e.g. violence (e.g. a movie) then we will want to carry out acts of violence ourselves. This theory may be out-dated but it is still popular in society as social-groups, politicians and even parents can blame video games and movies for the violence in some of the youth today. However, as time has progressed, as humans were are only getting stronger than ever and now in the 21st century, people would have changed their viewpoints with there own freedom which can show that the theory itself is not that reliable.
